Integrating Generative AI in Adult Education

Welcome to a course in our series, “Integrating Generative AI in Adult Education: Empowering Teachers, Trainers, and Facilitators.” The course “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence” is designed for beginners and focuses on providing a basic understanding of AI’s key elements and its practical uses. This introductory program is organized into four main activities.
Firstly, “Understanding AI through LinkedIn” allows attendees to delve into AI’s core concepts via LinkedIn’s educational modules. The activity ensures that participants grasp the basics of AI and its applications across various fields.

Secondly, the “Computational and Critical Thinking for AI” section employs the AI Toolkit to facilitate hands-on exercises. This component aims to hone attendees’ computational abilities and critical thinking skills, specifically in the realm of AI. The focus is on coding challenges, algorithm analysis, and written reflections to build a strong analytical foundation.

The third activity, “Exploring the AI Toolbox for Educators” offers a curated selection of AI tools tailored for educators. Participants will explore these tools, evaluate their relevance, and present their potential applications in educational settings through presentations or tutorials.
Lastly, “Promoting Responsible and Ethical Use of AI” centers on the ethical dimensions of AI application. Here, attendees engage with case studies and scenarios from the AI Toolkit, dissecting the ethical quandaries posed by AI usage. The objective is to develop resources that advocate for ethical practices in AI, especially within educational contexts.
Upon completion of the course, attendees will have acquired a robust understanding of AI principles, computational and critical thinking skills, and an ethical framework for AI application, particularly in educational settings.
