The Media Education Centre is proud to announce that its President served as the organiser, host, and keynote speaker at a Special Event held during the 62nd Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva. The event, dedicated to the theme \u201cPeace and the Right to Development for SDG\u201d<\/strong>, brought together international experts, civil society representatives, and development practitioners for a constructive and forward\u2011looking dialogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Special Event marked the 40th anniversary of the UN Declaration on the Right to Development<\/strong>, underscoring its continued relevance in today\u2019s rapidly evolving global landscape. Discussions highlighted the essential connection between peace, human rights, and sustainable development, with particular attention to the challenges emerging from the digital era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A central theme of the event was the concept of cross\u2011border suppression<\/strong> \u2014 pressures and constraints that can limit a nation\u2019s ability to fully exercise its development rights. Addressing this issue, Miomir Raj\u010devi\u0107<\/strong> called for strengthened multilateral cooperation, open access to knowledge, and responsible technological development as key pathways to safeguarding human rights in the 21st century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his keynote address, Miomir emphasised that access to digital technologies, information, and skills increasingly shapes the modern understanding of the Right to Development. He highlighted digital inclusion<\/strong>, media literacy<\/strong>, and AI literacy<\/strong> as essential foundations for equitable and sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event also provided an opportunity to present the vision of the FUTURE Movement<\/strong>, a framework championed by the Media Education Centre that promotes peace, human rights, innovative educational models, digital rights and legislation, youth empowerment, and both international and regional cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
