When communities can speak their language, express their culture and participate fully in digital spaces, societies become more resilient, empathetic and open to dialogue.

Media and Information Literacy (MIL) is the tool that enables this. It empowers people to understand, question, create and participate. It protects diversity by amplifying voices that are too often marginalized or silenced.

Digital transformation must not deepen inequalities. Inclusive societies require access to technology, knowledge, digital skills and dignity online. Digital inclusion is not a technical issue — it is a matter of justice and human rights.

As artificial intelligence increasingly shapes information flows and public discourse, ethical and transparent AI becomes essential for peace, trust and democratic stability. AI must be fair, accountable, respectful of privacy and sensitive to cultural and linguistic diversity. AI should learn from diversity — not erase it.

Coming from a region that has experienced conflict, we know that intercultural dialogue and reconciliation‑oriented education are not abstract concepts. They are the foundation of peaceful coexistence. When young people learn to understand others, recognize manipulation, read media critically and value diversity, societies choose cooperation over division.

Democracy today depends on information literacy, trust and meaningful participation. The UN Right to Development in the digital age means that no one should be left behind — not because of language, culture or economic status. This is our shared responsibility.

In Meknes, researchers, educators, diplomats and practitioners gathered around a common belief: diversity is power. Our collective responsibility is to protect cultural and linguistic diversity, strengthen MIL, build ethical digital ecosystems and ensure that every person has the right to be seen, heard and respected.

As part of this commitment, the Media Education Centre will contribute through its cooperation with the EU All Digital Network in organizing the All Digital Summit 2026 in Belgrade, 22–23 September, and we warmly invite all participants of the Spring Academy to join us.

Media and Information Literacy DiplomacyDiversity, Dialogue and the Future of Inclusive Digital Societies At the First International Spring Academy on Media and Information Literacy Diplomacy in Meknes, held on the occasion of the 15th Anniversary of the UNESCO MIL and Intercultural Dialogue Network and the 2026 World Press Freedom Day, Continue Reading →

[4

post-6122","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news-2
["GET
