It draws its power from awareness of the profound\u00a0truth of which the wisdom traditions of all cultures, science, and common<br \/>\nexperience bear witness that life is one.<\/p>\n<p>The International Day of Non-Violence is marked every year on the 2nd of\u00a0October, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, leader of the Indian independence\u00a0movement and pioneer of the philosophy and strategy of non-violence. He is remembered, today, for his contributions\u00a0towards India\u2019s freedom and for sharing with the world a doctrine for\u00a0dealing with injustice and dissonance. He taught people the philosophy of\u00a0Ahimsa which encourages the use of non-violence as a tool for the peaceful\u00a0resolution of differences.
