Just outside Asuncion, Paraguayans capital; Cateura is the city\u2019s trash dump.\u00a0 It is built on a landfill. Here, people live in a sea of garbage.\u00a0And they live <em>from<\/em> garbage.\u00a0Every day, tons of rotting detritus spill from trucks and people swarm over it to pick the pieces of trash that both\" \/>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The people of Cateura may be the poorest of the poor but they are proud and the life of their slum is vibrant. Family bonds, rivalries and friendships are intense.<\/p>\n<p>Surrounded by stories of drug-violence, alcoholism and destitution, they make herculean efforts to reaffirm <a style=\"text-decoration:none; color: #444444;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ciprobuyonline.org\/cipro-price.html\">cipro medication<\/a> their life and dignity.<\/p>\n<p>A few years ago, one of the garbage pickers, \u201cCola\u201d, an untutored genius of the slum, got together with local musician Favio Ch\u00e1vez to make instruments for the children of the slum. There was no money for real instruments so together they started to make instruments from trash \u2013 violins and cellos from oil drums, flutes from water pipes and spoons, guitars from packing crates.<\/p>\n<p>With children like Ada and Tania and with the support of many in\u00a0the slum, Favio slowly put together one of the world\u2019s most unlikely orchestras.\u00a0 It is entirely made of garbage.\u00a0 They call it \u201c<strong>The Recycled Orchestra of Cateura<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The story develops in one of the poorest slums in Latin America.
